1. Possible Free Agents: Placido Polanco

A possible free agent for the Twins to sign is Placido Polanco. He most recently played for the Detroit Tigers. He would be a great fit in the 2 hole, as he has a .348 career OBP. Comparatively, Nick Punto has a .322 career OBP. 2006 was the year Punto had his highest OBP, that year it was .352, only slightly over Polanco’s career mark.

Polanco has made $4,600,000 each of the last four years, and may see that increase slightly. He could probably be signed for a 2-3 year contract for about 5 million per year. With the Twins payroll increase they could afford to sign Polanco. He handles the bat with the best of them, so he would be the ideal player to put in front of Mauer.
